Local elections are about the future of the town and are bigger than any individual candidate or political party. However, it is important that voters know the background, qualifications, and experience of the candidate seeking to help lead the town. So, as I ask for your vote for Selectman this fall, it is only right that I share a bit more about myself.
I was born and raised with my brother, Jim, in Wolcott, Ct. by my mom, a public-school teacher, and my dad, an IBM engineer. I graduated from Syracuse University with dual degrees in Business from the Whitman School of Business and Broadcast Journalism from the Newhouse School of Public Communication. Later in my career, I completed advanced leadership studies at Churchill College, Cambridge University in the UK.
I began my professional career as a Certified Public Accountant, with Price Waterhouse in New York City focusing on media and entertainment clients and mergers and acquisitions. At 25 years old, I was named the Controller of a publishing Company and, by 28, I was the Chief Financial Officer. Subsequently, I have held several senior financial level positions at mid-sized companies including EMI Records, PRIMEDIA Business Media, and Environmental Data Resources, (also serving as the Interim Chief Executive Officer). In addition, I was the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer and, ultimately, Chief Executive Officer of Summit Business Media.
Presently, as a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal, an international consulting firm, I provide executive level financial management services and manage performance improvement initiatives for private equity-owned companies across a wide range of industries.
My wife, Amy, and I have three children, Meghan, 23; Tommy, 19; and Ryan, 13; and have called Fairfield home for 22 years. I serve on the Board of the State of Connecticut Green Bank, Beardsley Zoo, and have been a lector at Holy Family Church, and a Little League coach.
As Chairman of the Town of Fairfield’s Board of Finance for 10 years and a board member for 14 years, I have a comprehensive understanding of the financial position and operational issues of the town.
Combining my background in business, government, not-for-profits, state entities as well as town civic organizations, I have the broad and diverse background on which to make the right decisions for the Town moving forward.
